3 Twitter Campaign Ideas Your Competitors Don’t Want You To Know

Marketers often talk about the type of content you should be sharing via Twitter on a regular basis: tips, blog content, images to stand 3 twitter campaign ideas out in the newsfeed, etc.

But what if you’re running a Twitter campaign designed to achieve a specific goal?

Perhaps you’re trying to generate more leads or drive more website traffic.

Check out these three Twitter campaign ideas your competitors don’t want you to know.

1. Use (and pin) lead generation cards

If you are unfamiliar with lead generation cards, they are a simple way for users to express interest in your business (such as by downloading a free offer) without having to actually fill out a form or leave Twitter.

You can access the Cards Manager under the Creatives tab within your Twitter ads section.

But don’t just stop there…

Once you have finished your lead generation card, tweet it and pin it directly to the top of your profile, making it easy for anyone who lands on your Twitter profile to locate it easily.

Kim Garst did this with her Periscope ebook and received far more downloads than if she had simply tweeted it periodically. It also makes it easy for her to direct people to the ebook during her live Scopes.

2. Ask your audience to contribute content

Who is better at contributing engaging and authentic content around your brand than your followers?!

Hold a contest on Twitter to drive leads and generate buzz for your brand and ask users to tweet images of your products in action or even just photos that are related to your brand. For example, if your business sells backpacks, ask your followers to submit travel photos to win a new backpack.

Get creative with this!

Try to think of fun ways your audience can contribute content or unique incentives for encouraging them to do so, such as including the content in promotional materials.

Game of Thrones did this by asking users to describe the show using their custom hashtag and a specific keyword.

The best answers were then featured on HBO Connect as well as selected TV spots. To keep the fun going, a new keyword was released each day leading up to the season 2 premier.

3. Target the right audience with Twitter ads

No matter how large your audience is on Twitter, sometimes you need an extra boost…especially if you’re trying to reach new people for a campaign.

The best solution? Twitter ads!

The first thing you need to ask yourself, when running a Twitter ad, is “what is your goal?”

What do you want to achieve with your ads?

Twitter has five different products available for different goals you may be trying to achieve: followers, website clicks or conversions, engagement, app installs, or leads.

Once you have established what goal you want to reach, the next step is to target the RIGHT audience.

Interest targeting lets you connect with Twitter users based on their interests (pretty self-explanatory). Twitter provides over 350 interests categories to choose from, so you should have no problem locating the interests for your ideal audience.

You can also target people based upon keywords that Twitter users are using or searching for. This is useful for targeting people who have recently expressed interests in specific topics. The “Followers” targeting option allows you to reach people who follow specific accounts.

Finally, if none of these work for you or if you are interested in a remarketing campaign, you can try tailored audiences.

Tailored audiences allow you to use your own CRM list and target specific people. You can even filter it for location, gender and language to narrow your list down even further.

So if you’re using Twitter for business, have you tried any of these Twitter campaign ideas?

Or do you have any others that were particularly effective for driving results for your business?
