Top 5 Apps For Creating Images on Twitter

  • July 9, 2015

We all have days when we’re busy and on the go and just don’t have the time (or energy) to sit down and create images on twittercontent on Canva or PicMonkey (or even PhotoShop if you feel so inclined).

On those occasions, you need something fast and simple that still lets you create AMAZING images.

The best place to turn? Your phone!

There are some great apps for creating images on Twitter.

In fact, there are so many that it can be difficult to know which one you should choose.

That’s why I put together this list of my five favorite apps for creating images on the go!

WordSwag

This one probably won’t come as any surprise. It’s been around a while and is a favorite among marketers and small business owners alike.

The app isn’t free, but it’s only $3.99 and can save you tons of time!

Select from images on your phone, use one of their backgrounds, or search for images on pixabay. Once you’ve selected the background of choice, you only need to double tap on the text on the screen to change the text. You can add your own text or choose from pre-populated quotes and other fun sayings (if you’re not feeling particularly creative).

Once you have the text you want, you simply need to toggle between the different text styles and color options or add filters to your background. You also have the option to blur the background, which makes it easier to see the text.

One of the best features of this little app, however, is that when you save it you are given the chance to go back and add an image logo or a text logo over the image. Simply save your logo into your phone and pop it onto your design every time you create a new image. Then just re-save and upload to your social media accounts.

And voila! A custom-designed, watermarked image in just a few minutes!

Rhonna Designs

Rhonna Designs is awesome although a BIT more complicated than WordSwag…but only because it has SO MANY FEATURES!

Like WordSwag, this app allows you to choose from images on your phone as well as provides pre-designed backgrounds that you can select from.

Once you select your background, you will be given the chance to select from different sizes, including long rectangular sizes. It’s this feature that makes Rhonna Designs one of the best apps for creating images for Twitter.

The one thing to keep in mind, when using Rhonna Designs, is that you’re dealing with layers, just like you do with PhotoShop or Canva. If you choose text from one group of fonts and then want to change to another group of fonts, you’ll have to delete the LAYER and start over.

Now, I realize that it may seem like I’m painting this app to be WAY more complicated than the others. It’s just a little different so it takes some getting used to.

The cool part about this app, and why I love it so much, is because it has features I haven’t found anywhere else. It has hundreds of different stickers you can add to your images as well as beautiful, pre-designed text and unique borders.

Frametastic

Frametastic is a handy app when you want to combine a group of pictures. Rather than posting a whole bunch of pictures (and possibly making your fans crazy), you can simply select from a wide number of collages that are available.

Then simply pop your images into the individual spaces (if you upload the images all at once, you have no control over which slot they will fall into). Then select whether you want rounded edges or a particular color for the border and you’re done.  Extremely easy to use!

One fun, extra feature is that you can turn the collage into a video that will zoom in on each image.

Word Dream

Word Dream is a FREE app, which is awesome, especially considering the wide selection of fonts that are available. (If you’re a regular WordSwag user, you’ll know that after a while it can be pretty easy to spot images that were created using the app).

For $3.99 you can unlock all of the text options and have a large selection available.

By default, the Word Dream logo is at the bottom, but you can double click on it or go to the logo tab to change it to your own name or website (or @name). You also have the option to remove it altogether…although I wouldn’t recommend that.

Like WordSwag, Word Dream has some pre-populated text to help out if you aren’t feeling creative or need something fast. Once you have added the text you want, you can toggle back and forth between the different text styles until you find exactly what you want.

There are also a ton of options for text color, with different color combinations so the text has more than one color. Add a color stroke to the outside of the text or just have the text outline entirely. You can even add gradients for more variety.

Like the other apps, you can add filters, change the brightness or blur the background.

Typorama

This app is just $1.99 and has a large selection of pre-populated backgrounds as well as the option to search pixabay.

After selecting the text, you are given the option to add your own text or to get a random quote (unlike WordSwag or Word Dream, there are no categories for the random quotes).

One fun, unique feature that I haven’t seen with other apps is the option to rotate the text and make it look 3D. It also lets you add overlays to create unique effects. You can also get into the more technical aspects of design, adjusting the exposure, contrast, and saturation.

When you’re finished, simply click the “OK, SHARE!” button and select if you want to save to your gallery or directly on your social media profile.

Wrapping Up

So that’s it!

Lots of great apps to choose from for making images on Twitter or other social media sites! Some paid and others free…but NONE expensive.

I highly recommend you try out at least one image design app, simply because of the time you’ll save trying to create images.

Are you using any now? If so, which ones?

There are an overwhelming amount of apps that can be use so this list is a big help! I can’t choose between Typorama or Word Dream.

    • Typorama is really good, wish it was available for us Droid users 🙂

      Thanks for visiting Sabrina ~

      • I really hope they’ll make it available on Android. Though e-mailed them already to ask if they’re brewing an Android version of their app. I like Word Dream, too. But it’s not available on Android. And I can’t find any contact so I could communicate with them. 😀

  • I’m surprised you didn’t mention Canva. They just rolled out Canva for Business (Premium), but the original Canva is still free to use with many images to buy for $1 each.

    • Huge fan of Canva. Didn’t know they had an App for the phone. Will have to search for that. Thanks for stopping by and checking us out. 🙂

Thanks for helping me narrow the field. So many to choose from it had become overwhelming.

  • Sheena! Thanks for this post: Have you tried Picmonkey? What do you think?
